When using pre preg carbon "de bulking" or compressing of the carbon takes place under vacuum. The hull is shown here in "de bulk" mode. The deck is in the fore ground.
Complete hull being lifted off the hull tooling. At this stage of the construction, the hull weighed 1,500 pounds.
The deck and cockpit are built as one piece. This reduces weight and adds to the overall strength. Pre preg carbon is laid on the deck tooling, cured under high temperature while under vacuum. This image shows the cockpit detail ready for the cure cycle.
The core for the deck is laid onto the outer skin after the cure cycle is completed. The entire deck and the cockpit are shown with core ready for the inside laminate.
Cabin House in primer this morning.
Seat backs for the main salon with finger holes cut in and covered with protection paper.
Teak trim on a fore deck hatch.
